Hello from Annual Conference in Hampton, VA!
Annual Conference started Thursday morning with the Clergy & Laity Sessions and will end tomorrow around noon (June 22) with the service of ordination and fixing of appointments. The end of Conference will mark the beginning of a new conference year and a new quadrennium. We will soon be back and providing an update for you!
This Sunday is UWF Sunday! Rev. Dr. Marg Kutz will be our guest speaker at both services. Between the services, Rev. Kutz will be available to answer questions and sign copies of her book, Nevertheless She Preached.
I will be on vacation next week - June 24 - 28. The office will be open M-Th 9 AM - 2 PM. If you need anything, please call the office or contact me directly at 757-912-2233.
We are planning an Outdoor Service on Sunday, July 14th at the 8:30 service to kick off Bridgewater's Lawn Party Week. We will gather for worship and pray for the lawn party and the many volunteers that work so hard that week. If you know of a business, civic organization or individual(s) that volunteer at the Lawn Party, please invite them to worship. Bring a lawn chair and wear sunscreen or a hat for protection from the sun. Note that the 11:00 worship service will be held inside that Sunday.
We welcome you to join us this Sunday in person or online! You can access our live stream from the website (www.bridgewaterumc.com). Click on "Sermons" and then "Live Steam." You may also join us directly on YouTube at Bridgewater UMC Virginia and click on the LIVE tab.
To God by the Glory! Pastor Mary |

With the Bridgewater Lawn Party quickly approaching, we at the Bridgewater Police Department are busy making sure we have the proper personnel in place to make the event as smooth and safe as possible. It takes a tremendous number of volunteers to make this a successful event. In the past we have relied on volunteers to assist with the detour route during the Fireman's Parade and Steam and Antique Car and Tractor Parade. I am reaching out to see if anyone in your organization would be willing to assist with this years event. We will need approximately 10 volunteers on the nights of July 19th & 20th. On Friday the 19th volunteers are needed from 6:00pm-8:30pm, and Saturday the 20th from 5:00-7:30pm. Duties will simply be to keep traffic flowing along the detour route. If you have anyone interested in assisting, please have them reach out to me as soon as possible.
Thank you, Sergeant Aaron Will, Bridgewater Police Department (540)828-2611 -- awill@bridgewater.town |
