Thank goodness our God is a God of second chances... and thirds... and fourths... and... God calls and invites us to respond. "Follow me," Jesus says, "and I will make you fish for people." (Mark 1:17)
This Sunday, we will gather to worship the Lord! We will worship at 8:30 AM & 11 AM. Sunday School classes will continue. There will be Kid's Time at both services. Nursery and Children's Church are back!
Our scriptures are Jonah 3:1-5, 10 and Mark 1:14-20. We hope YOU will be there.
Heads Up! Lent is early this year. Lent begins on February 14th! Our Ash Wednesday service will be Feb 14th at 7:00 PM.
Join us this Sunday in person or online! You can access our live stream from the website (www.bridgewaterumc.com). Click on "Sermons" and then "Live Steam." You may also join us directly on YouTube at Bridgewater UMC Virginia and click on the LIVE tab.

From Rhonda Johnson
Thank you so much to every person that contributed food and/or money to Shadrach's tuition fundraiser last Sunday. I truly believe you are the angels referenced in Hebrews. Special thanks to Gloria Hildebrand (and Rodney) for the snowmen decorations and coordinating the food planning. Each one of you made a difference. We were able to pay his tuition debt for last semester. God bless you. |

Children's Clothing Closet Update |
|
Thank you!!
We have such a generous congregation! Throughout the year you all have been amazing in your support of the Children’s Clothes Closet. Bags of clothing appear in the red hamper in the stairway almost weekly in addition to many wonderful donations of socks and underwear in the pink tub in the main hallway. This year’s Christmas Coat Drive was another way that demonstrated that BUMC has a real heart for mission outreach. During the month of December, the following items were donated for the Closet: 44 new or gently used coats, 2 thermal vests, 33 pairs of gloves, 10 pairs of pants/jeans, 4 backpacks, 5 fleece blankets, 3 pks. of diapers, 5 pks. of wipes, 250 treat bags for the children at the Closet and 200 new books (through the Green Valley Book Fair) Wow!! Thank you for your tremendous generosity, because with your help many children received much needed clothing and coats as well as a Christmas treat.
I also want to give a big thank you to The Cracked Pillar (owners Patti and Tim Landes) as they facilitated a “Giving Tree” during the holiday season that resulted in an overwhelming response. Their patrons donated 61 new coats, 50 pks. of socks, 37 pks. of underwear, multiple cases of diapers and wipes, 25 sweatshirt/sweatpants outfits, pajamas, shoes, and 22 toys. The generosity of our community really warms your heart.

Calling Singers for Musical Production
|
|
Harrisonburg Baptist Church is sponsoring a production of The Witness, by Carol & Jimmy Owens as part of their Easter season 2024, which is open for community participation.
This narrated, choral, one--act biblical musical was written in 1978 by Carol & Jimmy Owens as a tool for presenting the gospel in song. The musical focuses on Peter's perspective and follows the gospel through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
This one hour production features Peter, his wife Mary, James and John, their mother, Judas, and a full choir ensemble. The Witness features a variety of songs that will spark both emotional and spiritual uplifting in celebration and remembrance of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Open on-call events for interested singers will be held January 13 & 14 at Harrisonburg Baptist Church. If you are interested, there is more information on the Community Bulletin Board. |

Lost and Found - Glasses & the Raincoat Mystery |
|
The Glasses and Cases
Are these your glasses? Three pairs of eyeglass and two cases have been turned in to the office found in the Sanctuary If they belong to you, please claim them.
The Mystery of the Raincoats
One particular wet Sunday morning this fall, two coats were switched in the hallway. We have a gray jacket/raincoat hanging in our coat closet area in the hallway, size small, that was switched for the same coat of a larger size. If you have the missing coat, please come and switch them out. We would love for you to have the coat that fits you and the owner of the larger coat would love to have it back home. Help us solve the mystery that has been going on since before Christmas! |
Community Note |
The Rockingham/Page County FSA Committee is seeking nominees for a County Committee Advisor from local farm groups to represent women and minority groups. If interested, please contact Brian Carpenter, County Executive Director at 540-534-3104. Additional information is available on the Community Bulletin Board. |
