-- Responding to Hurricane Helene

-- Youth Getting Ready for Dayton Days! (Oct 5)

--Date change for Cider & S'mores (to Oct 13)

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging."

Psalm 46:1-3

Responding to Hurricane Helene

The United Methodist Committee on Relief is the Disaster Response agency of our church.  Every dollar that is raised through this agency does to disaster relief -- directly to people in need.  I have witnessed the work of UMCOR on several occasions first hand.  The organization and trained volunteers are some of the BEST that respond when people are in need.

When there is a natural disaster, there are always several ways to respond.  Here are some ways to give:

Be in Prayer...

First of all, pray.  Pray for those in need and for those who are responding to the needs.  Pray that basic needs of clean water, food, sanitation, and clothing will be met.  Pray for power and internet to be restored.  Pray for first responders, power line workers, medical personnel.  Thank God for the amazing world that we live in.  Thank God for caring hearts and minds. Pray for wisdom to know the best ways to take action and that all things given will be used the best possible way and to the glory of God.  Thank God for Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit working in mysterious ways.

Ways to Give Funds

If you wish to donate funds, here are two ways to make a donation:

1) Make a check payable to BUMC (or an online donation through our church) and put UMCOR - Helene in the memo.  We will make sure that your donation gets to UMCOR, designated for Hurricane relief.

2) Go directly to the UMCOR website at umcor.com and make a donation.  If you are asked what church you belong to, please choose Bridgewater UMC and we will receive an acknowledgement of your gift.
